Houndstooth is one of the oldest textile patterns, with the first known example dating back more than 2000 years. Since then, textile artisans have reinterpreted it countless times through change of scale, fiber, weight, and color. Our latest interpretation of houndstooth arrives by way of Japan, where our partner mill diligently crafted this fabric with purpose in mind. Created with large gauge yarns and constructed with a high density weave, this fabric was designed as our heaviest, most robust style of the season. A balanced blend of 50% cotton and 50% polyester serves two primary functions. First, although we use durable long-staple cotton fibers, polyester is far stronger than cotton and contributes tangible durability to the fabric. After all, a heavy duty fabric needs to act like one! Second, polyester provides wrinkle resistance and internal structure to the fabric. These two characteristics ultimately contribute to an elegant appearance, no matter how hard you wear it. Finally, a double-brushing treatment serves as the cherry on top, adding a blanket-soft touch to this already hefty fabric.
